A man stormed a corner shop and threatened staff. Merseyside Police were called to Low-Cost Food and Wine on Longview Drive in Huyton at around 11.45pm on Friday, August 29.

It followed reports an unknown man entered the shop in possession of a knife and made threats towards staff, before stealing cash and running off in the direction of Huyton Lane. Merseyside Police said extensive enquiries are ongoing, including CCTV and forensics.

Detective Inspector Richie Shillito said: “We think the man pictured may be able to assist our investigation, so if you know him please come forward. The man we want to speak to is wearing quite distinctive clothing, which may prompt someone to come forward.

“This incident left staff understandably fearful and we are determined to find the person responsible and put him before the courts. If you were in the area or live locally, please come forward or check any of your own CCTV, dashcam or doorbell devices.

“Nobody should be threatened while carrying out their work, and for hard-working staff to have been confronted with a knife is despicable.

“We will act on all information given to remove such people from our communities.”
