The 24-year-old content creator was impressed by the crowd at the M&S Bank Arena
Angry Ginge shared an admission about Liverpool as he said “it’s not about the rivalry”. The 24-year-old content creator from Salford has shot to stardom in the last few years, best known for his gaming content and live streams on Twitch. But his fanbase expanded when he took part in last year’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here show, when he was crowned King of the Jungle.
Millions of viewers tuned into the hit ITV series, when fans fell in love with Ginge’s down-to-earth persona as a proud Mancunian. His career has gone from strength to strength since his time in the jungle.
Angry Ginge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, joined the Baller League UK as a team manager for “Yanited FC”. The competition is made up of a blend of celebrities, social media influencers and football legends.
Other managers in the competition include former footballer Ian Wright, actor Idris Elba, pundit and former player Micah Richards, Lioness Chloe Kelly and social media star and Britain’s Got Talent judge KSI.
While the majority of the six-a-side games take place at London’s Copper Box Arena, on Monday night each squad made their way to the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool for the first night of matches away from the capital.
For the first time since its launch last year, Baller League is touring away from London for two match days in Liverpool, on Monday April 20 and Monday, April 27.
The ECHO was in attendance for Monday night’s event and Angry Ginge spoke about how important it is to bring incredible events like this to the north of England.
Ginge was impressed as the Merseyside crowd welcomed him with open arms on Monday evening, and he was pleased to see a sold out arena ahead of his team’s match against KSI’s “Prime FC”.
Ginge told the ECHO: “I’ve been telling Baller League for ages to do something up north, we appreciate it more. Everything is down south, we don’t get much up north and when we do, we go there and we enjoy it and we don’t take it for granted.”
He added: “It’s a sold out M&S Bank Arena, it speaks for itself.”
Despite being a proud Manchester United fan, the 24-year-old was happy to put any differences aside as he made a trip to Merseyside for the event at the arena.
He said: “It’s not Man United and Liverpool rivalry this, I’m happy to be here.” He explained he’d never been to the arena before but is having a “blast” so far.
He said: “I’ve never been to this part of Liverpool before and I must admit, it’s actually quite nice. There’s beautiful buildings, the crowd are up for it, it’s been a blast.”
Speaking about what makes a Liverpool crowd so special, he told the ECHO: “I feel as though they’re just up for it.”
In 2025, it was announced that Ginge would manage the team “Yanited” for Baller League.
The 24-year-old is proud of his northern roots, which he was happy to showcase during his time in the jungle alongside his friend and fellow campmate, rapper Aitch.
Asked why he joined Baller League UK alongside the group of famous faces, he said: “I’ve always been a massive football fan and Baller League is something different, so I thought ‘why not’ and next thing you know I love it.”
