A mum was shocked after ordering a pair of viral trousers from Next for her toddler son, but when they arrived, she quickly spotted a big, unfortunate issue with them
Next has often been praised by parents for their adorable kids clothes, which come with cute designs and patterns to suit most ages. However, one mum was speechless after spotting an unfortunate detail with the trousers she bought for her one-year-old son.
Taking to TikTok, mum Lauren from the North East, who often posts videos about her experience as a first time mum, shared a video clip of the viral Next juice box trousers she’d ordered for her son. After being thrilled about finding the sold-out trousers in her son’s size, the happiness turned to confusion after spotting one detail in the design of the trousers.
“I was so excited to get my hands on the viral Next trousers for William until I opened the parcel and realised the pattern had lined up in a really unfortunate way on the seam and he definitely can’t wear them,” she wrote in the caption of the post.
The trousers in question were brown with a pattern of different coloured juice boxes on them, including some illustrations of berries. Some juices were also labelled with the juice it was, such as mango, berry, apple, and grape.
As she zoomed of the trousers, she went on to show the full design of the trousers with the various juice boxes on it, as she went on to zoom in once again on the area where she found the issue.
On one of the trouser legs, the pattern had cut right through the grape juice box design, leaving out the first letter of the word to create a new, less suitable word.
“Next viral trousers fail,” she wrote in the overlay text of the video. She then urged other parents to have an extra look at the trousers, as she said: “If you’ve picked up a pair of these make sure you check how the grape juice lines up before your little one wears them!”
Viewers soon took to the comment section to share their thoughts, as many found it just as unfortunate as Lauren, as some went to check their own version of the trousers.
“Once you see it you can’t unsee it can you,” one person wrote. Another person wrote: “Oh god!! I love these but that’s definitely a big mistake. I’d email next and see if they can help.”
“I saw another TikTok on here with these and that was the first thing I saw, such a shame as they’re so cute!!” someone else wrote.
A fourth person came up with another solution as they suggested: “Just unpick that side seam and put out the print a bit more. Then stitch it back up.”
However, someone else went on to say: “Yes I do agree but surely people can use common sense and see it’s clearly GRAPE if parents see a problem sadly it there own issue is a mother of 2 myself I clearly see it’s meant to say grape but each to the own I suppose.”
Many other viewers also went on to share that their version of the trousers didn’t have the same ‘mistake’, which lead Lauren to believe it was just ‘bad luck’ in the fabric cutting.
Next have been contacted for comment.
