The new series of the Liverpool-set show is launching on ITVX
G’wed is set to return for another hilarious series on ITV2. The Liverpool-set comedy first graced our screens two years ago and has been a smash hit with fans. It follows the lives of a group of students in Year 11 at school.
The ITV comedy was a word of mouth success as it was described as a “classic in the making” by revered Doctor Who showrunner, Russell T. Davies.
The first series wasn’t just a critical triumph as G’wed quickly built up a large fanbase and broke records as the most streamed comedy on ITVX when it was watched over 7.2m times.
Prenton-born actor Dylan Thomas-Smith stars in one of the leading roles as Reece. In 2025, he received a BAFTA nomination for best male performance in a comedy for his role in G’wed.
Other actors include Gemma Barraclough as Mia-Louise, Amber Harrison as Aimee Morris, Max Ainsworth as Connor and Jake Kenny-Byrne as Christopher.
The stars will be back on our screens for an exciting new series filled with laughs, drama and some more serious storylines. Series three is set to be “bigger and bolder” than ever.
A post on social media from the G’wed official account announced the new series. Sharing a sneak peak, the post said: “The wait is nearly over. Our BAFTA nominated smash hit comedy returns to ITV2 and ITVX.
“The trailer for series three of G’wed is here. Get ready for a series that’s bigger and bolder than ever. Tackling powerful and thought-provoking themes from the refugee crisis, to women in sport and one of the series’ returning characters managing life with OCD
“It’s raw, relevant, and a comedy that refuses to look away. The beloved cast are back with Jennifer Ellison joining the crew as Aimee’s estranged mum, Anna…”
Brookside star Jennifer Ellison recently announced she’ll be starring in the show as Aimee Morris’ (Amber Harrison) mum. The actress is best known for playing the role of Emily Shadwick in the Channel 4 soap Brookside. She is also a successful business owner, as the star founded her own performing arts school, Jelli Studios, in 2015.
