Liverpool is one region that has experienced mixed conditions in recent weeks
After a turbulent week of occasional downpours, sunshine and dark clouds, the weather in Liverpool is expected to be peaceful today, with chilly temperatures setting the scene for the week ahead. Highs of 15C are predicted by the Met Office today, and the chance of rainfall is low at less than 5%.
Forecasters warned of a drop in temperatures across the UK this week, with a risk of frost in some areas and rain following one of the driest Aprils on record.
Liverpool is one region that has experienced mixed conditions in recent weeks. Thursday, April 30, reached a summery 23C, with clear skies bringing out the crowds, and the good weather continued into the Bank Holiday weekend, with a sunny Saturday on May 2.
It has been downhill for Liverpool since then however, with dull skies and occasional downpours. Today, May 10, forecasters predict highs of 15C, with maximum gusts of 24mph.
The Met Office said: “After a chilly start, there will be plenty of dry and bright weather around on Sunday. Skies may turn a little hazy into the afternoon. Light winds and temperatures below average for early to mid-May. Maximum temperature 15C.
“A bright start to the evening, however cloud will build from the north with showery outbreaks of rain reaching the region during the second half of the night. Minimum temperature 5C.”

The dull weather is not expected to abate any time soon, as the Met Office continued: “A damp and cloudy start on Monday will give way to sunny spells from mid morning. Continuing to feel cool with a risk of an overnight frost in rural spots. Maximum temperature 14C.
“Remaining changeable on Tuesday with outbreaks of patchy rain clearing south. Turning blustery with sunny spells and heavy showers both Wednesday and Thursday. Feeling chilly, with a risk of frost.”
Changeable and unsettled conditions are expected to dominate the middle part of May, with low pressure leading to periods of rain or showers, some of which could be heavy. For the most part, temperatures are likely to be close to or slightly below normal during this time.
Any turbulence is predicted to settle by the end of May, with longer spells of fine and dry weather. Temperatures are most likely to recover close to average, becoming warm at times.
In June, mixed conditions are likely with spells of rain and showers, but also some drier weather at times.
