Good Morning Britain has issued an apology after a swear word was inadvertently broadcast.

Presenters Susanna Reid and Ed Balls were back on the ITV show on Tuesday morning (June 2) to present the day’s major stories from throughout the UK and internationally.

Later in the programme, Susanna and Ed spoke with singer and actress Delta Goodrem, just weeks after her breathtaking Eurovision performance. The former Neighbours star represented her native Australia at the song contest, securing fourth place with her power ballad Eclipse.

While the presenters questioned Delta about her time in Vienna, several sharp-eyed viewers spotted an expletive being displayed live on air.

During the interview, clips of Delta’s recent Mighty Hoopla performance were shown. At the bottom of the footage, an audience member was holding a large fan with the c-word prominently written on it, reports the Mirror.

Viewers were swift to express their astonishment, with one person posting on X (formerly Twitter): “Oops, should have looked at that footage before airing it.”

Another commented: “That’s not very nice to put that up when Delta is on… tut tut,” while a third remarked: “I’m surprised it wasn’t mentioned.”

A TikTok user likewise stated: “Oh wow someone should have taken a closer look at the footage. Someone’s gonna be in trouble at GMB.”

One viewer remarked: “C-bomb bit strong for a Tuesday morning,” while another similarly noted: “Well, someone’s getting fired at Good Morning Britain, because I don’t think they realised that they broadcast this. Someone is in so much trouble.”

While the expletive went unacknowledged during the live broadcast, the clip has subsequently been edited from Delta’s interview on streaming platform ITVX.

A GMB spokesperson told the Liverpool Echo: “We’d like to apologise to any viewers offended by the accidental appearance of the expletive which was featured in concert footage. As soon as the error was discovered it was corrected and didn’t appear in the +1 and ITVX versions.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Delta was put on the spot about her potential involvement in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

Addressing recent speculation live on air, Delta said: “Anytime I’ve ever been in the UK and I can immerse into [Strictly], I love music with all my heart. As I said last year before Eurovision, I’m always open. I love the variety of the arts… I’m always open!”

She continued: “I’d have to work really hard because I’m a piano girl at the end of the day.”

“I’m not confirmed,” Delta went on, before jokingly suggesting she’d seek guidance from the Good Morning Britain presenters should she enter the ballroom.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 6am
