Coronation Street has begun to unveil the secrets surrounding Jodie Ramsey’s enigmatic history.

Newcomer Jodie, portrayed by Olivia Frances Brown, made her first appearance earlier this year during the Corriedale crossover episode, where she was being held captive by Emmerdale’s Graham Foster before managing to break free. It was subsequently revealed she was the estranged sister of Shona Platt and was harbouring a wealth of secrets.

Back in February, a young girl named Olivia, played by Lucy Dulson, turned up on the cobbles and it quickly emerged that she was apparently one of the children Jodie had worked as a nanny for prior to her disappearance.

Just this week, a flustered Jodie spotted Olivia in Weatherfield once more. In Wednesday’s episode, an uncomfortable Jodie reluctantly introduced Olivia to Shona, explaining her former role as the youngster’s nanny. Matters took a turn for the worse, however, when Shona insisted Olivia stay for tea.

Later, Jodie arrived home to discover Olivia rummaging through her bag, at which point the teenager confessed she knew she had stolen her father’s hard drive and was attempting to retrieve it in order to impress him, reports the Daily Star.

Following the tense confrontation, Olivia stormed off without the hard drive, only to be intercepted by two men. With tensions running high, one of the men ominously declared over Jodie’s fate: “I’m gonna do whatever your dad tells me to” before the pair drove away with Olivia.

As Jodie begins to panic, she convinces Shona that Olivia’s father is her violent former partner and, retrieving the hard drive from her bag, claims she took it from him and he’s determined to kill her.

Before long, a concerned Shona warns Jodie that now Olivia knows her address, her father could turn up at any moment and she needs to leave straight away for her own protection.

This comes before next week’s Coronation Street whodunnit, where Jodie, along with Megan Walsh, Theo Silverton, Maggie Driscoll and Carl Webster, have all been unveiled as possible victims.

In forthcoming scenes, Jodie is getting ready to depart Weatherfield but when she hears Shona screaming she rushes outside to discover her sister being confronted by two men. Obviously aware they’ve come for her, she chooses to hand over the hard drive.

Witnessing how distressed she is, Shona pleads with her to remain but when Jodie uncovers evidence that proves Shona lied about never getting her letter, she becomes determined to seek revenge.

Unfortunate David Platt gets caught in the crossfire as she takes drastic action to attempt to destroy their marriage. Subsequently, finding herself homeless, Jodie hurries off into the darkness, oblivious to the fact she’s being observed.

At the precinct, Jodie settles herself on the swings, annoyed with herself for ruining everything. When someone draws near, she’s startled, has her history or recent conduct finally caught up with her?

Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV and ITV X
