You should return a product for a full refund if its affected by a recall
Shoppers should check their purchases to make sure they do not own any recalled items after safety warnings have been issued. Every week in the UK several product recalls are published on the Government website.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) is responsible for updating the public on products which have been pulled from shelves. It looks after the regulation of most consumer goods excluding food, medicines, and vehicles.
Products are recalled regularly from a number of different retailers, for various reasons. Recalls published by the government website are for specific products that have been sold in the UK and may require you to act to receive a free replacement, repair or refund.
The OPSS says its primary purpose is to “protect people and places from product-related harm, ensuring consumers and businesses can buy and sell products with confidence.”
Products are recalled due to safety concerns, defects, or regulatory non-compliance among other reasons. This week we have rounded up the latest recalls below:
Amazon
Playbook’d is recalling their Playbook’d Hangman toy sold via Amazon because the product presents a serious risk of choking.
The product is supplied with small parts which pose a choking hazard to young children, particularly those under 36 months of age. Improvements are also required to marking, labelling and documentation. The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.
The listing has been removed by the online marketplace (Amazon). Owners are advised to stop using the product immediately and keep it out of the reach of young children. Contact the distributor you purchased from to request redress.
The New Mummy Crib Backpack sold via Amazon, eBay, Fruugo, Joom and DH Gate is being recalled.
The product presents a serious risk of injuries because it is not structurally stable and has no warnings to indicate that it cannot be used overnight. The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005 and has been withdrawn from the market by iCuddleBugs (TANTRIC VEDI UK LTD).
Shein
Shein is recalling their 100pcs Jumbo Water Gel Jelly Beads for Vase, Round Gel Beads, 9-11mm because the product presents a serious risk of asphyxiation.
If the product is swallowed in its hydrated form it can block a young child’s airway. The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
The listing has been removed by the online marketplace and owners are advised to stop using the product immediately and keep it out of the reach of children. Contact the distributor you purchased from to request redress.
TK Maxx
TK Maxx is recalling their Power Evo Wireless Charging Power Bank 5V because the product presents a risk of fire as, in some units, the wiring may not be securely attached. The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
Owners are advised to stop using the product immediately and return it to TK Maxx for a refund or replacement.
TK Maxx is also recalling the POM Power Banks as the products present a risk of fire as the internal wiring is not securely attached. The products do not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
Owners are advised to stop using the product immediately and return it to their nearest TK Maxx or Homesense store for a refund or replacement.
