The outdoor range is proving popular with families
With the potential for a heatwave in the UK in the coming week, Aldi says it is experiencing “record speed sales” of its new outdoor wooden toys collection. With some items reportedly selling through by 83% in one day alone, it’s clear the nation’s families are gearing up for a bank holiday weekend in the garden.
Having landed in stores on May 17, the range features everything from outdoor toys such as sand pits and picnic benches, to wooden easels and toy kitchens.
The range starts at £9.99 ranging to £34.99 and there are 11 items to choose from in total. The toys are recommended for ages three plus.
Among the range is the new Wooden Outdoor BBQ, Mud Kitchen, and Shop Front, which comes with adorable accessories to match.
Other new items in Aldi’s Summer Wooden Toy range include the BBQ Food Accessories (£9.99) which features four kits: Hot Dog Box, Meat Box, BBQ Burger Box and Veggie Box all complete with wooden toy food and condiments.
The Mud Kitchen (£34.99) includes a bread oven, washing up rack, double burner stove top and utensil holders, and there is also the Mud Kitchen Accessories (£9.99), with four sets of stainless steel or wooden pots and bowls, baking set and veggie prep set.
The Wooden Shop Front (£29.99) & The Shop Front & Role Play Set Accessories (£14.99) are available in six store front role plays of Coffee Shop, Florist, Village Shop, Post Office, Theatre and Vet.
The Messy Play Picnic Bench (£34.99) is designed to “fully [equip] the garden with everything needed for a perfect day’s play out in the sun”.
Aldi has also recently recruited its first ever “wooden toy tester” to give real customer reviews on the new range.
The supermarket called on children across the country to apply, explaining why they should be chosen and what make-believe dish they would cook up in their very own toy kitchen.
Following thousands of entries, Ireayo, three, from Manchester, melted hearts with his video submission to secure the position of Wooden Toy Tester.
As is the case with all of Aldi’s Specialbuys, the wooden toys will only be available as long as stocks last.
In the past Aldi has put a two person limit on the range, but this time there is no limit on purchases.
