A huge emergency service presence descended on the beach on Friday morning
A woman has been rescued at Formby beach this morning, Friday, March 20, as emergency services descended on the area. Emergency workers were called to Formby beach at around 7.40am on Friday after a woman was cut off by the tide near Taylors Bank.
Emergency services launched a huge search for the woman, who was trapped in mud flats. Coastguard rescue teams from Crosby, Southport and Wirral responded to the scene, as well as RNLI New Brighton Lifeboat, Southport Quads and Lifeboat, Merseyside Fire and Service, North West Ambulance Service and an HM Coastguard Search and Rescue Helicopter, says Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
The person was rescued by lifeboat at around 9.30am. She is now receiving medical care from the ambulance service but was “conscious and breathing” when rescued. Merseyside Police closed Lifeboat Road, which leads to Formby beach through woodland this morning.
