Liverpool completed the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen on Friday
Liverpool have wasted no time flexing their muscles as Premier League champions as they completed the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen on Friday.
The 24-year-old has become the Reds’ first signing since winning the Premier League and has put pen to paper on a long-term contract at Anfield after Liverpool triggered the £29.5m release clause with the 2024 Bundesliga champions. The Dutch international will officially become a Reds player when the summer transfer window opens on Sunday, before joining up with the Netherlands squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Finland and Malta next month.
On Merseyside, Frimpong will join up with his new team-mates at the AXA Training Centre on July 8 when Liverpool begin their preparations for the new campaign.

The defender’s debut, then, shouldn’t follow too far behind, with Liverpool having already confirmed two pre-season friendlies for the month of July.
Arne Slot’s side will travel to Asia for the commercial leg of their summer preparations and face off against AC Milan (July 26) in Hong Kong before travelling to Japan to face Yokohama FM (July 30).
It means Frimpong could pull on the Liverpool shirt for the first time when his new side travels to the Far East.
However, Liverpool are likely to announce several more pre-season friendlies before they jet out to Hong Kong and Japan, which would hand the former Celtic and Manchester City defender his first run out with the Reds before July 26.
His first competitive appearance for the club, though, is set to come at Wembley on the weekend of August 9/10 when Liverpool face FA Cup winners Crystal Palace in the Community Shield.
Speaking to LFCTV after completing his move, Frimpong said: “I spoke to the manager a few times. He sounds very positive. He says I can bring a lot of energy and my qualities, my speed.
“Especially when a manager is talking positively about you, it gives you very good confidence that he believes in you. I’ve had good conversations with him.
“I’m really excited [to work with Arne Slot]. Even when I was at [the] national team, some of the Feyenoord boys would tell me about him and be like, ‘He’s the best coach I’ve ever had.’ Things like this.
“So, I’ve always heard good things about the coach. Now he’s going to be my coach, so I’m excited for that.”
