A “serious assault” in a house in Netherton led to a man being rushed to hospital with knife wounds. The victim, aged in his 30s, suffered slash injuries after being attacked at around 1am today, July 3.

The incident occurred on Stanton Close, Netherton. Three men aged 22, 37 and 34, all from Netherton, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder, and they remain in police custody this morning. Detective Inspector Ted Barr said: “This was clearly a serious assault on the victim, but thankfully he only received minor injuries and has already been discharged from hospital.

“This could have been far worse and I want to reassure the community in Netherton that we are taking this extremely seriously and we have a zero tolerance approach to all forms of knife crime.

“As part of initial inquiries, we have arrested three men and they will be questioned as we look to establish exactly what happened. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.

“Officers remain at the scene and a cordon is still in place this morning as we carry out CCTV and house-to-house inquiries.

“We are also looking to speak with possible witnesses and locate any doorbell footage that could have captured anything significant. Although we’ve made three arrests, I am still appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.”

Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to hospital, where he was treated for minor slash wounds. He has since been discharged, police said.

Several small cordons remained in place on Stanton Close this morning, with officers standing guard. A matrix van was also at the scene.
