Arne Slot is waiting for an update on the fitness of his Liverpool players ahead of the FA Cup clash against Manchester City

Liverpool are back in action on Saturday afternoon with the FA Cup quarter-final trip to Manchester City. And the Reds are still waiting to discover exactly who they can call upon for the game against the recent League Cup winners.

The biggest question mark was over the fitness of Jeremie Frimpong.

The right-back prompted a scare when being forced off for Holland in midweek just minutes after coming at half-time in their friendly against Ecuador, but subsequent scans gave him the all clear to join team training on Thursday.

Liverpool have also had the green light over Mohamed Salah, who also was in the session having missed the Premier League defeat at Brighton a fortnight ago with the injury that kept him out for Egypt throughout the international break.

Federico Chiesa will be available after missing out on the South Coast.

Alexander Isak returned to team training on Thursday having been absent for more than three months after surgery on an ankle injury that included a fractured fibula after being caught by Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven when scoring Liverpool’s opener in the 2-1 away win before Christmas.

The Reds, though, are sure to be careful over not rushing the Sweden international, with the weekend’s game potentially coming too soon.

One player who definitely remains out is goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who suffered a hamstring injury that ruled him out of the last two matches. No timeline has yet been set for his return.

Conor Bradley is out for the season after knee surgery, while teenage centre-back Giovanni Leoni is also missing until the summer following ACL surgery in September. Wataru Endo is continuing to recover from an ankle operation he underwent in February.

For City, the only confirmed absentees are centre-back duo Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias, with another defender, John Stones, also expected to be missing.
