The incident happened at the River Nene in Cambridgeshire where divers have been pictured searching
Police are seeking answers after a car plunged into a river carrying a group of teenagers, where two didn’t get out. The horrific incident happened last night (March 17) at the River Nene in Cambridgeshire.
According to the Mirror, divers have been pictured on the river banks as a massive search is underway for a boy and a girl, aged between 16 and 18 who didn’t make it out of the vehicle. Cambridgeshire Police said the car contained five people aged between 16 and 18, including two males and three females.
It was travelling southbound on North Brink, in Wisbech St Mary’s, Cambridgeshire, at about 8.20pm on Tuesday when it left the road. Three people, two females and one male, are reported to have made it out of the vehicle.
They have been taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn with non-life-threatening injuries. Police and emergency services remain on scene today (March 18) carrying out searches.
Pictures show a large presence on the river bank with what appears to be a police forensics tent set up at the waterside.
A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: “A male and a female have not been accounted for and searches continue. North Brink is likely to remain closed for the remainder of the day.
“We are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage. Anyone with information about the incident should use the reference incident 515 of 17 March and report it through the Cambridgeshire Police website.”
