Oasis is to play the first of five homecoming shows tonight in Manchester
Oasis has issued a last minute warning for fans heading to tonight’s show at Manchester’s Heaton Park. Legendary indie musicians Noel and Liam Gallagher will play the first of five homecoming gigs as part of their long-awaited reunion tour
Oasis will play Heaton Park on July 11, 12, 16, 19, and 20, before playing to crowds in London, Edinburgh and Dublin. Fans heading to the outdoor concert this evening have been urged to prepare for the hot weather and “look after yourself and look after each other” as temperatures are set to rocket.
A post from Oasis’ Instagram account reads: “Severe weather advice Friday & Saturday – Heaton Park. Please prepare for extreme sun and heat. Wear sun screen.
“Stay hydrated – at the concert and when travelling. Wear a (bucket) hat. Where possible stay in shade Look after yourself and look after each other.”
Heatwave conditions have been declared in parts of England and Wales as temperatures soar to over 30C. Temperatures will soar this weekend as the third heatwave of the summer is felt by many in the UK.
According to the latest weather data there are more than 200 local authority areas in the country where heatwave conditions have started today
An official heatwave is declared by the Met Office when temperatures exceed a specific threshold for three consecutive days. There are 211 other areas where heatwave conditions are forecast, with temperatures predicted to go over the local threshold this afternoon and also to peak above the same level today and tomorrow.
In total, around 340,000 gig-goers expected in Manchester across the five sold out homecoming shows. Once the dust settles on the city, Oasis will head to Wembley in London, the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh and Croke Park in Dublin before heading out on a series of international dates in North and South America, Australia and Asia.
This weekend’s Manchester shows mark the first live performances from the band in the region since 2009, when a long-running feud between Noel and Liam culminated in a dramatic backstage fight and subsequent split.
Those heading down will be able to enter Heaton Park from 3pm. The music will finish at 10:30pm but food vendors will remain open until 11pm.
Ticket agents will send emails and updates relating to the ticket gate and entrance you need to head to depending on whether you have general admission or front standing.
