Ferry services were cancelled due to a “technical fault”
Ferry services on the River Mersey are set to resume after all boat trips were suddenly suspended. Services were cancelled this morning, July 8, due to a “technical fault”.
In a statement on its social media pages, it said the “team are working hard to return to normal service”, adding: “Merseyrail are accepting commuter tickets. Replacement buses will be operating between Hamilton Square and Seacombe.”
Services were also cancelled on Monday just before 4pm, with a replacement bus service operating between Seacombe and Hamilton Square during commuter times.
The Mersey Ferries team, part of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, have now confirmed services will be up and running as usual tomorrow, July 9.
They said: “Great news! Services will resume from Seacombe for Wednesday mornings commuter service at 7:20am. Thank you for your support as we worked to restore full service. Happy sailing!”
Mersey Ferries apologised for the inconvenience caused to commuters this morning. On its website, a statement read: “Mersey Ferries are currently suspended due to a technical fault.
“The team are working hard to return to normal service. In the interim, cross river tickets can be used on Merseyrail between James Street and Hamilton Square.”
The commuter ferry service operates each weekday between the Liverpool Gerry Marsden ferry terminal at the Pier Head and Seacombe in Wirral.
