Two men have been arrested after a house was broken into while a child was upstairs. At around 12.30am today (Wednesday, July 9) Merseyside Police were called to a property on Holborn Hill, Tranmere, to reports of two men gaining entry to a property and confronting the male occupier.

Following an altercation, the men left the address and ran off towards Thompson Street. The man sustained a slight facial injury which did not require hospital treatment. CCTV, house-to-house and forensic enquiries into the burglary are ongoing.

Detective Inspector Peter Rexwinkel said: “At this early stage we are not clear if anything was stolen and thankfully no serious injuries resulted, but this was a concerning incident which took place with other occupiers inside, including a child who we believe was upstairs. This will have been distressing for all concerned and we will support them as our investigation continues.

“If you live on Holborn Hill or nearby, please check any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell devices as you may have vital evidence. We are determined to find those responsible and put them before the courts.”
