A delivery driver was left fighting for life after being stabbed during a robbery. Emergency services were called to the junction of Grafton Street and Robertson Street in Dingle on Sunday, May 4 at around 2am.

It followed a report a man, aged in his 30s, was stabbed during a robbery. The man was rushed to hospital with a stab wound to his back and is currently in a critical condition.

Detectives said they believe the man was targeted for his electric bike while he was working as a delivery driver. When the ECHO went to the scene on Sunday evening, a cordon remained in place and police officers were at the scene.

Eyewitnesses said there was blue tarpaulin at the scene and forensics were seen gathering evidence. Forensic, house-to-house and CCTV enquiries are ongoing in the area, Merseyside Police added.
