Liverpool transfer news as Marc Guehi’s actions after Crystal Palace’s draw with Chelsea draw attention

Liverpool target Marc Guehi has sparked fresh transfer speculation among supporters following Crystal Palace’s goalless draw at Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

The defender was named in Oliver Glasner’s starting XI for their game at Stamford Bridge despite uncertainty over his future. The Reds are keen to acquire his services in the final two weeks of the window.

Guehi has less than 12 months remaining on his contract at Palace meaning the south Londoners face selling him this window to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer.

After captaining the Eagles in the Community Shield win over Liverpool last weekend, Guehi played the entirety of Palace’s goalless draw at Chelsea. After the game, Glasner commended Guehi’s professionalism alongside Eberechi Eze, who is wanted by Tottenham.

“There’s a lot of rumours about Eberechi and Marc Guehi, but I think everyone who watched the game saw they’re 100% with this group, with this group and it’s what we expect from our players that they give 100%,” he told Sky Sports.

“We rely on each other and they proved it in a brilliant way.”

However, Sky Sports have since shared a video that seems to show Guehi ignoring Glasner at full-time. The Palace manager called the defender’s name a few times as he walked towards the tunnel.

Guehi appeared to turn to the Austrian and shake his head before continuing to head to the tunnel. Glasner then proceeded to turn towards the travelling fans and appear to ask Jean-Philippe Mateta about the defender.

The ECHO reported this week that talks are ongoing for Palace captain Guehi – with the proposed move seen as independent of the £26m signing of young Italian defender Giovanni Leoni.
