The ECHO opens the floor to Liverpool fans far and wide to have their say on the big issues at Anfield in our Reds Letter Day feature
Liverpool fans all over the world have been reacting to the news that Mohamed Salah is set to leave at the end of the season after nine years.
Since signing for the club for around £36m from Roma in 2017, the man who has become so affectionately known as the ‘Egyptian King’ has done it all on Merseyside, winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup, the FA Cup and two Carabao Cups.
Salah has risen to third in the all-time scoring ranks at Liverpool with his 255 goals. – a tally bettered only by Ian Rush and Roger Hunt. He is a modern-day legend who is fit to rub shoulders with all the club’s greatest names.
It promises to be an emotional day when the forward walks away from Anfield at the end of May and, just over a week on from the news he broke via his own social media channels, supporters are continuing to have their say.

In the latest Reds’ Letter Day piece, the ECHO has once more opened the floor to its readers to give their verdicts on the big issues around Anfield and unsurprisingly much of the focus was on Salah.
He is truly a legend. I haven’t healed yet since the day he addressed his exit. His love for Liverpool made me love him more. All the best my idol. Julius Roho SafiWe’ve sold players off to Bayern Munich, this time, they should sell to us. Bring on Michael Olise.Magbo Martin ChibuikeSome players score goals. Mo Salah is the goal. He was the moment. When we needed a miracle, he produced it. When we needed a leader, he stood up. If this is truly the end, then we don’t bid him farewell with anger, but with the bitter realisation that we just watched the greatest Premier League winger in history walk out the door because we couldn’t give him what he earned. Thank you for the Champions League. Thank you for the Premier League. Thank you for making the impossible look routine. Liverpool will survive, but we will never, ever be the same without you, King.Naji AlqadriI’ve waited for my blood to cool before posting, but I still feel the same – enraged. This man has done more for LFC than anyone I know in recent years. Yes, he let rip at Elland Road and I was and still am 120% behind him. Jurgen (Klopp) as mentioned (more than once) how they would ‘argue’ and then make up but that is all a sign of brilliance. It’s probably what’s laughingly known as the ‘artistic temperament’.
Nevertheless, he is my hero and will always remain so and I wish him all the luck in the world. I know he doesn’t need it at 400-odd thousand pound per week (and maybe more in the future), but my goodness he’s been worth every single penny.ScouseyankSalah is irreplaceable and a legend in the top five of English football and top 20 in world football. The best player to get his position is Olise.Kwatako OrderRecords speak for themselves, goal per game ratio, plus the first African to score 50 goals in the Champions League. Liverpool’s leading scorer in the Champions League too, to name a few (records). Plus he is the only player to ever score nine goals on the opening day of the Premier League, which hopefully will never be broken.
Mohamed Salah, thanks for the memories, you surely will be missed. All the best in the future.
Tabarak AliHe will be remembered as a legend, no matter how he has played of late. YNWA Mo. Gary ThompsonHe’s not a striker but he won the Golden Boot four times. He’s not a midfielder but he won the Playmaker award two times. He’s not regarded as three top best player in the world but he won the Puskas award. The only Premier League player to produce 30+ G/A in eight consecutive years.
The greatest ever winger to play in Premier League. One of the greatest ever players in the world. Top 5 EPL goalscorers of all time. Top 8 EPL assister of all time. Won all trophies in club football.
No winger in the Premier League’s history scored more against the big six than him. He did it all. He came, he saw, and he conquered without seeing Arsenal win the Champions League.
Thank you for everything Mohamed Salah. Ezeibenne Kizito
He deserves a statue in front of Anfield YNWA.
