Despite the recent back-and-forth Jamie Carragher has had with Mohamed Salah, he was unable to hide his joy when the attacker scored what seemed to be the winning goal against Newcastle United. The ex-Liverpool man told FSG “give him what he wants” as he caused havoc on a live stream.

Dominating the Liverpool space between on-field endeavours has been the contract situation of Salah. It all stemmed from the Egyptian saying he was disappointed not to have been made an offer as of late November, which in turn prompted Carragher to brand the talisman ‘selfish’ in a scathing assessment.

Salah would then take a playful swipe at the club’s former vice-captain, joking he would not have agreed with Gary Neville to name him man of the match against Man City last Sunday.

So they may not have seen eye to eye, though like any supporter of the club Carragher‘s comments are born from the desire to see the player renew terms at Anfield beyond the end of the season.

And the defender-turned-pundit made a clear demand to those who will be paying Salah as he wildly celebrated the Reds’ third goal at Newcastle on Wednesday night.

Appearing on a live watchalong of Arsenal vs Manchester United on the Stick to Football channel, he was first wearing a retro away shirt of the latter. This was not forced upon by Roy Keane or Neville, as he was simply hoping their former team got a result against Ian Wright’s Arsenal.

As half-time of that fixture coincided with the final part of Newcastle vs Liverpool, they switched channels. They were joined by Carragher’s son, Wigan Athletic defender James, at this point, and when Salah scored his second of the night he jumped on top of Neville and his son on their shared sofa.

“Give him what he wants! Give him what he wants! Give him what he wants! Give him what he wants!”

That was the message Carragher shouted repeatadly, before going over the top of Neville and crashing into the wall behind them upside down, knocking down posters. For a final time, again he shouted: “Give him what he wants!”

Carragher’s joy would later come crashing down as Fabian Schar equalised in the dying minutes, at which point it was Neville’s turn to jump up and celebrate in his co-pundit’s face.
