The Chase fans were not impressed as they claimed the questions were “fixed” on the ITV quiz show. Ariane, Eddie, Sophie and Peter made up the team of four contestants who were eager to test their general knowledge skills against one of the UK’s best quizzers.

Eddie from Essex was first up to take on The Chaser, who in this case was Paul Sinha aka The Sinnerman. Eddie gave a great performance in his Cash Builder, earning £4,000. After a tense head-to-head, Eddie returned to his teammates and secured the first spot in the final chase, kickstarting the shared cash prize pot.

Sophie from Bristol was next up and hoped to follow in Eddie’s successful footsteps. She also earned £4,000 in her Cash Builder but her time on the ITV quiz show came to an unfortunate end when she was caught by The Chaser.

She found herself caught in a tricky one-question shoot-out and soon heard Bradley Walsh’s dreaded words: “You have been caught and for you the chase is over.”

Ariane hoped to make a better impression on the quiz show. The player proved her excellent general knowledge skills and accumulated an impressive £7,000 in her quick-fire question round. She decided to take The Sinnerman’s lower offer of £3,000 with the hopes of making it through to the final chase.

After returning to her teammates, Peter was last up and decided to shake things up for the team. After earning £5,000 in his Cash Builder, he was tempted by The Chaser’s higher offer of a whopping £83,000.

He told Bradley Walsh: “My daughter would never forgive me, I always said I’d go high and I’m gonna go high.” The Chase fans praised the contestant’s brave decision on social media. One viewer wrote: “Finally someone came to play the game.” Another added: “Fair play for going high.”

Peter played impressively well and increased the prize pot to a huge £90,000. He joined Ariane and Eddie in the final and the three quizzers tested their wits one final time.

However, before the final even began, viewers predicted the way things were about to go. On X, one suggested: “[They] won’t be allowed to take £90k.”

During the game, the team racked up a score of 17 correct answers. But they soon lost out on the prize money when The Sinnerman caught the quizzers with 34 seconds remaining.

Fans were convinced the game was “fixed”, claiming The Chaser received “easy” questions to take the money away from the team of contestants.

One fan said: “Knew it! Knew the chaser would get easy questions. I knew all of them bar one! Always happens when money is high.” Another agreed: “How easy were the chasers questions.”

More added to the conversation on X: “Easy questions for a chaser there” and “The Chase is such an unfair quiz.” Another joked: “Contestant questions: Who was the Queen’s third dog’s sister younger cousin from Trinidad? Chaser questions: What’s 4+7? Joke #thechase.”

In the end, the three players went home empty-handed and their chance at winning a huge £90,000 was lost.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV1
