Some thought the trial was the best one yet while others couldn’t cope
I’m a Celebrity viewers have heaped praise on Oti Mabuse and Melvin Odoom after they performed brilliantly in tonight’s Bushtucker trial. They became the first contestants to achieve full stars as they took 12 from 12 back to camp.
Barry McGuigan was originally meant to take on ‘Tanks of Torture’ but Melvin, who hadn’t yet done a trial, offered to swap with Barry. Once at the Trial clearing, Ant and Dec then took them through what they’d be facing.
They explained that both Oti and Melvin would be inside a giant tank. The celebrity on the left would have to move the stars along the wire to the celebrity on the right hand side, who would have to move them along the wire and into a star bag.

They had 12 minutes to try and release all 12 stars, but in true Bushtucker fashion, they weren’t alone, as their body tanks of water were gradually filled with the likes of mud crabs, eels, crocodiles and water dragons, while their head bubbles were filled with spiders and snakes. Oti and Melvin successfully got a full house of 12 stars for camp.
Viewers were quick to praise the campmates but some fans think ITV took it too far with the challenge. One post on X read “Ok, this trial is going too far now. Stop with the supersized spiders!!!! #ImACeleb.” Another added “It’s my worst nightmare. Stop adding the spiders Dec.” Another said: “Best trial of the series so far and that’s the way to do it Oti & Melv !!!”
When the campmates all celebrated by jumping up and down and giving them a big hug, Melvin said: “Coming back to camp and saying that we got 12 stars felt like winning the World Cup and I don’t even like football!”
