Fans saw the mysterious character wake up from a coma
Emmerdale fans are certain they’ve uncovered the identity of the mysterious character who has been in a coma for several weeks on the soap, who goes by the name of Aidan Moore.
John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) has been going to visit his friend from the army, Aidan, with viewers left wondering who he might be, and what happened which left him fighting for his life in hospital.
John first arrived in the Dales last summer and was quickly warmed to his new-found family, including his sister Victoria. However, in recent episodes, chilling aspects of John’s dark past in the army has been revealed, including his dangerously violent persona.
It has been confirmed that the character is responsible for murdering Nate Robinson, causing Jacob to go into anaphylactic shock and most recently, poisoning his nephew after deliberately leaking slurry from a tractor on the farm, which flowed into the village’s drinking water supply.
After witnessing John visit a mystery patient in hospital, some fans were convinced he was the ‘real’ John Sugden, and the John we know is a fake.
However, when his name was revealed to be Aidan Moore, Emmerdale viewers immediately assumed that John is responsible for his condition. They now know what he is truly capable of and think Aidan could be one of John’s victims.
Viewers have begged for John’s lies and deceit to be exposed following months of betrayal. His fiance Aaron (Danny Miller) is oblivious to his future-husband’s real identity, and the couple are set to tie the knot in coming weeks.
However, the upcoming arrival of one character is set to cause problems in their relationship ahead of the wedding ceremony. During Tuesday’s broadcast of the ITV soap, an unknown lady rushed over to greet John while he was stood alone outside of the hospital.
It was later confirmed that the character, called Cathleen, was Aidan’s mum. She told John: “They [the doctors] just asked me to come in and see my Aidan, well our Aidan.” Her comment stirred up curiosity about who Aidan really is and how he knows John.
Later in the episode, Aidan woke up from his coma and viewers are more than ready to see him reveal all of John’s secrets. Taking to social media, one fan said: “Oh dear Aidan’s woken up…time for you to expose John!”
A second added: “Aidan wakes up! Hopefully things will start to look bad for John.” A third wrote: “Kinda hoping that Aidan says it was John’s fault that he ended up in hospital.”
Other viewers began to suspect that Aidan and John might be more than just friends, despite what John had said. One suggested: “Are Aidan & John married or is it something else?” Another agreed: “Wonder now that Aidan has woken up he’ll think he is still engaged to John.”
Fans will have to wait and see what happens to Aidan, and whether their predictions are true. Will John and Aaron’s wedding go ahead as planned? Or will Aidan ruin their big day?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV. Episodes are released on ITVX each day at 7am
