The actress won Best Young Performer at the 2025 awards
Emmerdale fans were pleased to see April Windsor stand up for herself. The teenager has had a rollercoaster year in the Dales after she fled from the village on Christmas Day.
A dramatic flashback episode saw April living on the streets displayed through distressing scenes filmed in Leeds city centre. Viewers were shocked to learn April was pregnant, as they saw her open up to a homeless boy. Unfortunately, April went on to lose the baby and struggled to cope with the psychological consequences.
After months of tension between her and her dad Marlon, the teenager has finally turned over a new leaf. Much to Marlon’s delight, April has started working with Belle at the Take A Vow business.
She was recently put in charge of capturing the photographs for a christening held at the Woolpack. However, things took a dark turn when she came face to face with a man she recognised from her time on the streets.
On Boxing Day, viewers may remember that a man harassed April and threatened to expose himself, even joking he would urinate on her. Six months later, the man turned out to be the dad at the christening where April was working.
During the celebrations, the dad gave a speech to all of his friends and family. But April thought it was the perfect time to expose him for who he really is.
She told the whole of the pub that he undid his jeans in front of her and asked “if I fancied earning a quick fiver.” She said: “You might not remember it but I do.”
Viewers were happy to see the teenager stand up for herself after battling with the trauma of living on the streets. Taking to social media, one fan said: “YES APRIL” while another wrote: “Glad April is sticking up for herself.”
More added to the conversation on X: “Well done April!”, while others congratulated the actress: “April carrying #Emmerdale good on Amelia” and “Go on April proving why she won.”
The British Soap Awards 2025 took place on Sunday June 1, where EastEnders secured the top prize of Best British Soap. However, Amelia Flanagan won took home the award for Best Young Performer for her portrayal of April Flanagan.
She won against a tough category of young actors, including her brother Will Flanagan, who plays Joseph Brown in Coronation Street. The Flanagan family took to Instagram to congratulate the young star on her award.
The family account shared a photograph of Amelia dressed in a black gown at the award ceremony. They captioned the post: “@ameliaflanagan08 Our Darling girl last Night won best young performer @thebritishsoapawards 10 years after she won it the first time when she was just 6.
