Viewers saw “now it all makes sense”
Coronation Street fans were quick to notice a major clue regarding Gary Windass’ mysterious disappearance. Gary packed his bags and left Weatherfield to clear his head, but Maria’s concerns began to go when he didn’t return home for Liam’s birthday. Celebrations got underway at the Bistro on Wednesday, but Gary was nowhere to be seen.
After speaking to other residents in Weatherfield, Maria soon confirmed that no one else had heard from Gary. She confided in Sarah, wondering if she should be “frustrated or worried.” However, viewers now know that Gary is actually fighting for his life in hospital. Elsewhere on the soap, Lou attempted to rebuild her relationship with Brody, thanks to Bernie’s help.
However, Coronation Street fans were quick to pick up on one thing Lou said. As she arrived at number seven, a phone rang which she explained was her “work phone.” Looking suspicious, fans were quick to connect the dots between Lou’s mystery phone and Gary’s disappearance.
Taking to social media, one fan predicted: “So Lou has Gary’s phone (hence why Brody thought she had a new phone) and is pretending that she’s Maria when the hospital ring! I thought it was weird that they hadn’t already tried to contact his next of kin, but now it’s all starting to make sense.”
A second said: “We all know Lou is behind texting Maria from Gary’s phone she saw him put his password in.” A third added: “Lou using Gary’s phone again!!! She definitely got something to do with Gary!!!” Another agreed: “I think Lou is in involved and paid someone to attack Gary in Corrie.”
Before Gary fled the street, he found himself growing closer to Lou. But Lou seemed to get the wrong idea, and tried to kiss Gary. Eagle-eyed viewers were quick to pick up on Lou’s deceiving act.
A few weeks ago, a romantic evening saw the two share a beer at Maria’s flat. But Lou was focussed on finding out Gary’s phone password, which explains how she has managed to get her hands on his phone more recently.
After Wednesday’s broadcast of the ITV soap, fans found themselves asking the same question. What happened to Gary? And how is Lou involved in the attack? Some viewers have predicted the incident may play a part in Lou’s explosive exit storyline.
The troublemaker arrived in Weatherfield earlier this year with her husband Mick Michaelis. The nightmare neighbours were brought in for a short-term storyline.
With Mick now behind bars for killing P.C Craig Tinker last month, fans are expecting Lou to depart the street this summer.
Viewers will have to wait until next Thursday to get their next share of the drama on the cobbles.
Coronation Street usually airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for an hour-long broadcast from 8pm until 9pm. However, no episode will air on Friday, July 4 due to coverage of Germany v Poland, which kicks off at 8pm.
The disruption continues into next week, with no episodes airing on Monday or Wednesday to make space for ITV’s coverage of the UEFA Women’s Euros.
