Brilliant photographs capture the incredible moment the Red Arrows flew over the F1 Grand Prix at Silverstone this afternoon. Today, Sunday, July 6, the race celebrates its 75th anniversary at the venue where the first world championship round was staged.
But aside from the adrenaline of the races, thousands of attendees also got a glimpse of another iconic sight. One of the world’s premier aerobatic display teams, The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows, performed their traditional flypast on day one of the Formula 1 British Grand Prix.
Ahead of the start of the games, the fleet made their iconic tri-colour flypast above the race course in Northampton. They left Exeter earlier this afternoon before flying across the Cotswolds and heading towards the Midlands, then launching the flypast over Silverstone.

Incredible photos capture the brilliant moment attendees were wowed by the display. One image shows the Red Arrows flying over Max Verstappen of the Netherlands and Oracle Red Bull Racing on the grid. Other aerial shots capture the vibrant red, white and blue colours above the entire circuit.
This time last month, many will also remember spotting the Red Arrows as they flew over Merseyside. The world-famous RAF aerobatic team landed at Liverpool John Lennon Airport on Saturday, June 7 at around 5.30pm after travelling from Scotland to the city.
Hundreds of spectators gathered around the airfield viewing area at the airport and on elevated mounds to catch a glimpse as they departed at around 3pm. Their stop was part of their journey to the RAF Cosford Air Show, taking place on Sunday, June 8.
After the show, returned to their base at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire. The RAF Cosford Air Show was hosted in Wolverhampton on that Sunday.
This year’s theme of Commemorate, Celebrate, Innovate, honoured the heritage, achievements, and forward-looking vision of the Royal Air Force. ECHO photographer Colin Lane was there to capture some incredible photos as they arrived in the city.
