A cooling product is always a win on tired mornings
The mornings are not the best time of day for most of us and when sleep eludes us, their favour drops even further. Anyone that has had the not so pleasurable experience of knowing me before 7am will tell you that the early hours are generally not when I’m at my peak.
That said, early rises, sometimes followed by late nights, are an unavoidable part of life. With this inevitability has come the adoption of many necessary beauty tricks and tips to help me feel and look more awake.
For me, after a copious amount of caffeine, this usually involves employing the power of the cold to shock both my brain and skin into wakefulness.
A cold shower does wonders, but more often than not my skin craves another hit of refreshment to get the day going.
Unsurprisingly, it is the skin around my eyes which feels the most benefit from this and so a cooling eye mask is a big win in my books.
As with all cooling products I use to wake up my skin, I place my eye masks in the fridge or freezer before using them for added effect
I also am a fan of any kind of face roller to depuff and jump start the blood flow in my face. Home Bargains sells a £1.99 jade roller which is currently sold out but shoppers can request to be notified when it comes back into stock.
With the rise of multi-step skin care routines, eye masks can be seen in most beauty retailers in abundance, with multiple claims about what they can achieve.
In my opinion the main job of an eye mask is to leave you feeling instantly refreshed and considering the short amount of time they spend on my skin, I wouldn’t bank on them for any long term good.
For this reason, I’m happy to opt for cheap and cheerful when it comes to this skincare staple.
Ticking all the boxes for a budget-friendly skin pick me up, are Home Bargains’ 99p Balance gold and marine collagen hydrogel eye masks.
If I’m being honest, I’m rarely swayed by the promises made by collagen infused products and most beauty experts would probably tell you that placing collagen onto the skin, while giving a potential hydration boost, is scientifically not likely to boost collagen production in the skin.
That said, the “instant cooling” and “refreshing” effects of these eye masks are a selling point and enough to make even my most tired brain kick into gear.
At 99p they will definitely be making their way into my early morning beauty kit.
