1) Asda security staff raise safety fears after 2,000 roles outsourced
Asda workers have raised concerns about instore safety and security after the retail giant outsourced 2,000 of its security guards. Asda said the move is designed to ‘strengthen protections across its stores’, but the Liverpool ECHO understands the transition process has left many security staff unable to go to work. The ECHO was contacted by an Asda security guard who said the supermarket giant had called a meeting with its staff back in January, and announced plans to TUPE transfer 2,000 of them to a new company called Mitie. The ECHO has agreed not to share the identity of the Asda worker, but were informed we could share their comments. READ HERE.

The rise was voted through by all elected members bar one in an effort to balance the books and pay for services from April 1. Joanne said she was trying not to think about the rise, adding: “It’s really worrying for me. It just seems to be going backwards with everything.
