Liverpool will continue their pre-season training at the AXA Training Centre on Saturday afternoon after returning from a tour of the Far East earlier this week. The Premier League champions jetted out to Hong Kong and Japan to play friendlies against AC Milan and J-League side Yokohama F. Marinos.

But it was the news back in England that Liverpool were interested in Newcastle United superstar, Alexander Isak, that dominated headlines over that stay in the Far East. But you already knew that, didn’t you?

Darwin Nunez ‘in talks’ with Al-Hilal

Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal are reportedly in talks with Darwin Nunez‘s camp about a possible move for the Liverpool striker this summer.

The 26-year-old has fallen out of favour under Arne Slot at Anfield and started just one Premier League game in 2025 as the Reds romped to a second title in five years.

Now, after Liverpool signed Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt last month, Fabrizio Romano has reported the Uruguayan is high on Al-Hilal’s list of targets.

Nunez has two years left on his current agreement at Anfield.

Liverpool defender seals loan switch

Promising defender Isaac Mabaya has joined Wigan Athletic on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Mabaya, 20, has been on Liverpool’s books since the age of six, while he made his debut in a 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Plymouth earlier this year.

However, the England youth international is now set for a new type of test as he prepares for his first campaign as a professional in the men’s game.

Reflecting on his move to the DW Stadium, Mabaya said: “I’m delighted to be here and can’t wait to get started.

“Speaking to the head coach about what he expects from me, I believe I can bring value to the team.

“I’ve had a few conversations with the gaffer, and I really like his philosophies and way of playing. I think it will be a great place to develop my career.

“I know how big the club is, and can’t wait to play in front of the fans.

“I’ve heard about how important the supporters are to the team, and how good the fan-base is, and I can’t wait to play in front of them!”
