Coronation Street fan-favourite was left fighting for his life after he was hit by a car in a hit-and-run incident
Coronation Street delivered harrowing scenes for Tyrone Dobbs (played by Alan Halsall) after he was knocked down by a vehicle in a hit-and-run collision, leaving him unconscious on Monday.
During the most recent visit to Weatherfield (8th September), the devoted father-of-two sustained life-altering injuries when he was struck by a motor that swerved to miss teenager Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) outside the neighbourhood precinct.
Whilst Betsy, who was marking her 18th birthday, watched in horror, she instantly contacted her mum, DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), who raced to the location with her partner, Carla Connor (Alison King).
Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) became frantic when she learnt her husband had been hurt in a traffic collision, and she dashed to the hospital whilst medics battled to preserve Tyrone’s life.

However, as the garage worker is stabilised, his wounds will begin to manifest, as Tyrone has endured a serious spinal trauma and is confronting an extended path to rehabilitation, reports the Daily Star.
In upcoming Corrie episodes, Tyrone becomes petrified and reveals to his spouse that he cannot sense or shift his legs.
At the same time, officers focus their efforts on tracking down the perpetrator, but who might it be?
Performer Alan Halsall, 43, has discussed the crash and how the aftermath will impact his character Tyrone and his relatives.
Alan commented: “As you can probably imagine, Tyrone’s first thoughts are confusion. He can’t really remember what’s happened, he doesn’t know why he’s in the hospital.
“And then as he’s coming round and he’s clearly in lots of pain, he has this realisation that something isn’t quite right and he can’t feel his legs.”
He added: “There’s just a hell of a lot of fear, wondering how he’s got there, why he’s feeling like this. He is terrified.”
Speaking about the moment Tyrone realises he cannot feel his legs, Alan explained: “He waits until he is on his own with Fiz in the hospital as she doesn’t want to scare the others, particularly his girls.
“Once he starts to understand what’s going on with him and why he can’t feel his legs and what’s happened, he needs his family around him – because he really is a family man.”
He added: “But I think overall there’s just this fear and trepidation of what this is going to bring and how his life is going to look after this accident.
“He will want to be strong for the family, but that is going to be difficult.”
The road accident has left Tyrone with fear he will never walk again, leaving his family in fear; “They don’t know if he’ll walk again or how life is going to look going forward”, Alan added.
“But he knows they will all try to stick together and face what the future holds.”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV and ITVX
