The singer took to the Other Stage on day four of the Worthy Farm festival
Charli XCX has hit back at those who were complaining about her headline Glastonbury set. The Brat Singer took to the Other Stage on Saturday, June 28, delivering all of her most iconic hits.
The Grammy-award winner treated the thousands in attendance at Worthy Farm to the likes of Von Dutch, 365, Speed Drive, Apple, and I Love It. Many fans believed Charli would bring out Lorde for the two to perform their song Girl, So Confusing, but this wasn’t the case. However, the 32-year-old did have a surprise in store for fans as Gracie Abrams was picked to be the Glastonbury Apple girl.
While those actually at the festival seemed to enjoy the set, judging by the thunderous applause she received at the end, some viewers at home claimed Charli was miming.
Taking to X, one viewer said: “Oh ffs can’t watch Scissor Sisters and Charli XCX is bloody dreadful. It could literally be any random person miming. WTF for a Glastonbury Saturday night, disappointing.”
Another added: “Predictable but shame nonetheless that Charli XCX can’t sing live #Glastonbury2025 #charlixcx FAKE.” And a third said: “Charli XCX Embarrassing that, turning up to walk around stage pretending to sing.”
Now, a day on from the performance, Charli has taken to social media to have her say. She told her 3.8 million followers: “Like the idea that singing with deliberate autotune makes you a fraud or that not having a traditional band suddenly means you must not be a “real artist” is like, the most boring take ever. yawn sorry just fell asleep.
“But to be honest…I enjoy the discourse. In my opinion, the best art is divisive and confrontational and often evolves into truly interesting culture rather than being like kind of ok, easily understood and sort of forgettable.”
She then shared a Guardian review with the caption: “PS thanks for the 5 star reviews hehe”.
The music extravaganza is coming to a close tonight, with Olivia Rodrigo set to be the final headliner. The singer will be taking to the Pyramid Stage at 9.45 pm until 11.15 pm.
The former Disney star is expected to sing the likes of Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl, Vampire, Drivers License and Traitor. Her set follows performances from Noah Kahan, Nile Rodgers and Chic and Rod Stewart who took this year’s legends slot.
