Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell have performed both of their semi final routines on BBC Strictly Come Dancing. The dance partners have been fan favourites since the competition began in September.

They have seen off some fierce competition over the weeks and are now within touching distance of next week’s grand final where a new Glitterball winner will be announced. Professional dancer Dianne Buswell broke down in tears after the second performance of the night following on from the Charleston to When You’re Smiling by The Blue Vipers of Brooklyn.

They performed a Viennese to Nothing Else Matters by Metallica for their second and final performance of the evening. It was a blend of heavy metal and classic ballroom. After the performance she hugged Chris and said “so proud of you”.

Shirley Ballas said: “Some beautiful footwork, when she went between your legs it was seamless, it was just stunning you should be so proud of yourself.” Anton added: “It was super duper, your movement was exemplary, you move like nobody else in the show. You’re an inspiration.” After a harsh judgement of the first dance, Craig said: “Magical darling, very emotional.”

Motsi Mabuse agreed with Craig adding “the change of atmosphere bought us back down, doing your thing it’s just very beautiful to see from the outside”.

Talking to Claudia Winkleman, the Liverpool-born comedian said “I’m an emotional wreck tonight” before finding out they achieved a score of 36 after each judge gave a score of 9. Fans took to X, after spotting the other professionals getting emotional. One fan said: “Seeing all the pros crying at Chris and Dianne is giving me all the feels #strictly.” Another added: “all of the pros crying omg- GET CHRIS AND DIANNE TO THE FINAL. RIGHT NOW. NO ONE DESERVES IT MORE”

Viewers at home were also emotional following the Viennese. A post read: “sat here crying at Chris and Dianne! if anyone deserves the final it’s those two!! I couldn’t be more proud.” With another adding “Anyone else crying after that from ?? What an inspiration Chris has been throughout this series, it’s an honour to watch.”

Ahead of the public vote, Chris and Dianne sit in fourth position on the leaderboard following the judges scores. Here is the full leaderboard in the run up to next Saturday’s final.
