BBC viewers were left feeling confused as Breakfast was interrupted with an announcement following a major technical issue which halted the live broadcast of the morning show

Sally Nugent explains Carol Kirkwood is not in the BBC studio

BBC Breakfast fans were left scratching their heads during the latest episode following a major technical issue.

Sally Nugent and Jon Kay were at the helm on Tuesday (December 10) morning, bringing the global headlines to the nation’s breakfast tables.

However, viewers in Wales missed out on local news when a message popped up stating: “Due to technical issues we are unable to bring you Wales Today.”

Social media was filled with comments from confused fans. One viewer took to X, the platform previously known as Twitter, writing: “What’s happened to BBC Wales today? Good news for the South East and London though #BBCWales #BBCBreakfast?”.

Another voiced their concern with: “Is there no news worthy of report in Wales today?”. A third commenter humorously suggested: “Have we tried switching Wales off and on again?”. Meanwhile, a fourth queried: “Where is the Wales regional news on BBC 1 today?.”

This incident comes just one day after Carol Kirkwood, BBC’s weather presenter, had a light-hearted moment on Monday’s show (December 9). After concluding her weather forecast, co-presenter Jon asked her: “Carol it’s the 9th of December when are we allowed to ask you about Christmas? ” To which Carol cheekily replied: “On the 26th!”.

Jon inquired: “What if we have plans before the 26th? Seriously when do you get a clue about what it’s going to be…”

To which Carol responded: “It’s really too far ahead to say yet if you’re asking if it’s going to be a white Christmas. Five days out you’ll get a better idea.”, reports the Mirror.

Sally, Jon’s co-host, then complimented Carol saying: “Carol, Jon has been building up to ask that question all morning but he’s been so scared to ask you,” while Jon interjected: “All year! ” Carol couldn’t help but laugh before replying with a tease: “Oh Jon, you rascal. I’ll let you know as soon as I do, I promise.” Sally turned to Jon with encouragement: “Well done, very brave.”

BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One at 6am
