Most shops will be open on the May bank holiday Monday but some will have reduced hours

Monday is another bank holiday making it the second of the month. The spring bank holiday comes at the perfect time as Liverpool is set for a jam packed schedule of events including Radio 1’s Big Weekend and the Premiere League victory celebration parade.

If you are planning to use the Monday off work to restock your cupboards after a busy weekend you might want to plan ahead. Most supermarkets will remain open over the bank holiday but some will be closing early on Monday. Read on for a full list of Monday, May 26 bank holiday supermarket opening hours.

Tesco

Tesco‘s opening times on bank holiday Monday vary based on the type of store.

Most Tesco Superstores in Liverpool will close at 6pm with varied opening times. The Tesco Liverpool One Superstore will open from 8am to 6pm.

Tesco Extra will be open from 8am to 6pm and Tesco Express stores will be open late as usual.

You can check your local store online for exact hours.

Sainsbury’s

Most of Sainsbury’s larger stores will have reduced hours of bank holiday Monday but will be open from 8am to 8pm.

Sainsbury’s Local stores do not appear to have reduced hours and most are open as late as 11pm though exact hours vary.

You can check store times near you with the Sainsbury’s store locator.

ASDA

Most ASDA stores will open on bank holiday Monday from 8am to 10pm.

Express Petrol stores are open as normal with most running 24/7.

Aldi

Regular opening hours will remain in place at Aldi’s stores across the UK on Sunday.

Stores in England and Wales will then be open between 8am and 8pm on bank holiday Monday while in Scotland stores will close at 10pm as normal.

The opening times of some stores may vary and Aldi advises checking your local store on Aldi’s website before making their journey.

Marks & Spencer

M&S will be open on bank holiday Monday with reduced hours. Store times vary so check using the M&S store finder.

Lidl

Most Lidl stores will be open on bank holiday Monday from 8am to 8pm.

Morrisons

Larger Morrisons stores will have reduced hours on bank holiday Monday but Morrisons Daily stores will stay open as usual with most open until 10pm and some open as late as midnight.

Check your local opening hours using Morrisons’ store finder.

Waitrose

On bank holiday Monday some Waitrose shops will trade with slightly different hours.

Some Little Waitrose shops will open from 7am to 10pm.

Waitrose encourages customers to check the opening times of their local branch.
