Arne Slot provides an injury update on Curtis Jones and Alisson Becker after Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Fulham
Arne Slot admits he expects Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones to miss Tuesday night’s Champions League quarter-final second leg with Paris Saint-Germain.
The England international was withdrawn at half-time of Saturday’s 2-0 win over Fulham and was replaced by Ryan Gravenberch after suffering a groin injury.
Goals from Rio Ngumoha and Mohamed Salah secured the points for Slot’s side, who won their first league game since February.
But Jones is now a major doubt for the European tie with holders PSG, who lead 2-0 from the first leg in France earlier this week.

“I just said, trying to be funny – although I don’t know if it was funny – this whole season has been things repeating themselves and today was an example of that when this has happened this season,” Slot said of Jones’s injury.
“Someone, I am not sure who is responsible for that, but they say make sure there is something negative happening because it can never always be positive. So there must be an injury involved after a good win.
“And that is why I had to take him off. I would be surprised if he is available for Tuesday. The good thing was he didn’t feel it in the moment. He felt it coming.”
The Liverpool head coach added: “He felt a little bit his groin. It wasn’t the moment – he felt it already for a few minutes.
“So, let’s hope for the best but I would be surprised if a player who comes off that he’s available for Tuesday.”
On Alisson Becker, who is sidelined with a muscle issue, Slot said: “Tuesday I don’t expect him back. He’s not training with the team yet.
“But he’s working very hard on his recovery, so we hope to have him back in the near future. But he doesn’t train with the team yet, so he will not be performing [on] Tuesday.”
