Liverpool failed to secure victory at Anfield when they faced a strong Fulham side – but one star opponent stood out to supporters.

Arne Slot was unable to extend Liverpool’s lead at the top of the table as a spirited Red’s team couldn’t find the winning goal against Marco Silva’s men. Cody Gakpo and substitute Diogo Jota both scored equalisers to cancel out the goals from Andreas Pereira and Rodrigo Muniz as Andy Robertson was sent off within 20 minutes.

But it was Fulham left back Antonee Robinson who impressed the Anfield crowd with his electric pace and double assist. This brings his total assists since the beginning of last season to 11 – the most of any defender in this time. The American also felt he controlled Mohamed Salah for a large portion of the game.

He told Match of the Day: “We were on even footing and then we scored and they got a red card. They took a lot of risks pushing men high and they were rewarded for it, there was space for us on the break but we didn’t capitalise.

“They piled the pressure on and were really positive, They brought Jota on. I felt like Salah was getting the better of me in the first half, I was on a booking but I felt more myself in the second half.

“We’ve been managing to pick up results against top teams, that’s the difference from last year. We’ve got injuries. It’s all about getting everyone back and staying consistent.”

Robinson also shared an Instagram post which included a slide show of pictures from Anfield with the caption: “Another point on the board.” It was followed by a shield emoji, highlighting the defensive masterclass put on show by the Fulham star.

Although the Egyptian did provide the cross that brought Liverpool back into the game in the second half, he struggled for much of the game with Robinson, something which the Anfield regulars are not used to seeing. Robinson hasn’t just excelled when facing Salah.

He also dealt with Bukayo Saka fantastically when the Cottagers grabbed a 1-1 draw against Arsenal. The Fulham captain has been linked with a potential move to Anfield ahead of the January transfer window.
