Anne Hegerty, who is known as The Governess, did not appear in the episode of ITV’s Beat the Chasers which aired on Thursday night forcing Australian quiz master Issa Schultz to step in
Anne Hegerty has put ‘quit’ rumours to bed after she was replaced on Beat the Chasers.
The TV star, who is also known as The Governess, did not appear on the show, which was filmed three years ago and repeated again on ITV1 on Thursday (December 19) night, forcing Australian quiz master Issa Schultz to step in.
Issa is famed for being a Chaser on the Australian version of the show and is called ‘The Super Nerd’. He has earned eight victories at the Australian Quizzing Championships between 2011 and 2021, along with appearances on shows like The Rich List and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
On the episode, he was joined by five of the country’s best minds – the Sinnerman, the Beast, the Menace, the Vixen, and the Dark Destroyer as they lined up to take on fresh batch faces all hoping to beat the chasers and go home with a huge cash prize.

Taking on hosting duties yet again Bradley Walsh welcomed Maud from Belfast, who took on the Chasers in the hope of a trip on the Orient Express.
Meanwhile, Back to the Future fan Richy attempted to win enough for his own DeLorean and Stuart from Dorset was looking to get as much cash as he could so he could buy a new campervan.
Anne’s absence didn’t go unnoticed as fans were left worried that Anne had quit the show but she’s since taken to social media to reassure viewers and confirmed that she is very much still part of the team.
Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, she said: “I haven’t left, am not leaving, and wasn’t leaving when Issa had to stand in for me when I caught covid NEARLY THREE YEARS AGO.”
Beat The Chasers launched in April 2020 as a spin-off of the original The Chase, which began in 2009 with Mark Labbett and Shaun Wallace.
Anne has been a core part of the show since joining in 2010 and has since appeared in hundreds of episodes. It’s safe to say that she has become a fan favourite.
