Police, paramedics, and three fire engines were scrambled to the scene
A 74-year-old woman died after a crash involving her silver Vauxhall Crossland and a heavy goods vehicle tractor unit on a Cheshire road. The crash, which occurred at around 11.45am on Monday on the busy A534 near Wheelock Farm, Sandbach prompted emergency services to swiftly respond, with police officers, paramedics, and three fire engines including a ‘major rescue unit’ attending the scene.
Cheshire Police have now confirmed that the car’s driver, taken to the hospital after the collision, died despite the efforts of medical personnel. Detective Sergeant Simon Degg from the serious collision investigation unit said: “Enquiries in relation to this collision are ongoing and we’re committed to doing all we can to establish what took place.
“The A534 is an extremely busy road and as part of our investigation we are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what took place. The same goes for anyone with any dashcam footage which may aid our investigation.”
