Fans can’t wait for the new Disney + show has Stephen is reprising a partnership with one of his favourite collaborators
Stephen Graham fans can’t wait after he issued an exciting career announcement. The 51-year-old has established himself as one of Britain’s most respected and critically acclaimed actors. The Kirkby actor enjoyed roles in films such as Snatch and Gangs of New York before he shot to stardom with his scene stealing performance in This Is England.
Stephen has forged an amazing career in Hollywood and worked with some of the greatest directors of all time such as Martin Scorsese and Michael Mann. He has underwent a physical transformation ahead of his new project, A Thousand Blows.
The Disney+ series is written by Steven Knight, who Stephen has worked with on Peaky Blinders. The upcoming drama is set in the world of illegal boxing in 1880s London and Stephen plays boxer Sugar Goodson.
The actor has taken to Instagram today to reveal the new show will land on Disney’s streaming platform on February 21. He re-shared the official announcement, which read: ” The date is set #AThousandBlows, a new Original series starring Malachi Kirby, Erin Doherty and Stephen Graham arrives February 21 exclusively on Disney+.”

The project is particularly close to Stephen as it his in collaboration with Matriarch, the production company he founded with his wife, Hannah Walters. He said: “To tell the story of these incredible characters during this period of time in London is a joy.
“Aside from having the privilege of bringing the role of Sugar Goodson to life, I am also extremely proud that Matriarch is co-producing this show whilst helping to create opportunities for people in front of and behind the camera, instilling the ethos of providing training within production that otherwise would be difficult for some to pursue as a career.”
Stephen’s ripped transformation has wowed fans after first look images were released from the production. The actor admitted he didn’t even recognise himself as he gave an insight into his new look.
He told Empire Online: “I’ve never been that big,” he recalls. “It changed the way I sat, the way I conducted myself. The first day of filming, the director went, ‘Do you want to look at the playback?’ And I remember going, ‘Is that me?!’ I couldn’t believe it.”
Fans took to the comments after the announcement and said they couldn’t wait for the new Disney show to arrive on screen. Merseyside rock star Miles Kane said: “Can’t wait for this.”
Sian added: “Going to be epic.” Laura posted: “Can’t wait for this.” Matt posted: “This looks sooooooooo good! Genuinely cannot wait!” Grace said: “Can’t wait for this.”
