Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury meet at the Kingdom Arena on Saturday night
Peter McGrail will fight on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk’s huge heavyweight showdown against Tyson Fury this weekend after a late replacement was found. McGrail had been due to face Dennis McCann for the British and European super-bantamweight titles at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday night.
However, the fight was called off on Friday night after it was confirmed that McCann had provided an adverse analytical finding in a Voluntary Anti-Doping Association test. McGrail, though, still travelled to Saudi as planned over the weekend, and now a new opponent has been secured for the Everton Red Triangle fighter.
Confirming the fight, show promoter Turki Alalshikh wrote on X: “It is now confirmed that Peter McGrail will stay on this Saturday’s card to face unbeaten British contender Rhys Edwards as part of the #Usyk2Fury rematch undercard.”

Edwards is 16-0 and has claimed victories over Thomas Patrick Ward and Brad Foster since stepping up to the 10-round limit.
“I think he went 12 rounds with Brad Foster, or 10, who I boxed in my last fight, but I didn’t see much of the fight,” McGrail replied when asked about his new opponent.
“I know he is 16-0, orthodox and coming to win. I am looking forward to a good fight and just doing what I always do and putting a show on for the fans.
“There are a few eyes on the show and it didn’t matter whether it was Dennis or Rhys Edwards; I am coming to perform and I am coming to do a job.”
