The Beatles legend played two sold out gigs in Manchester last weekend
Paul McCartney’s fans were in tears as he kicked off the UK leg of his ‘Got Back’ tour with two shows in Manchester. Sir Paul played sold out shows at Co-op Live in East Manchester on Saturday (December 14) and Sunday (December 15).
The ECHO gave five star reviews to both nights, praising the 82-year-old’s unrivalled showmanship and musical genius. The near three hour sets included Beatles classics such as ‘Let it Be’ and ‘Lady Madonna’, Wings hits like ‘Live and Let Die’ and solo tracks including ‘Maybe I’m Amazed’.
In a rare ‘treat’ for fans, Sir Paul also played ‘Wonderful Christmastime’ for the first time on stage since 2018. He was joined on stage by a children’s choir as the 23,000-capacity venue transformed into a winter wonderland.

The next gigs of the tour will take place at The O2 in London this week and Sir Paul signed off from Manchester with a message posted on his social media channels.
He said: “Simply having a Wonderful Christmastime in Manchester! We’ve been travelling around the world and here we are up north again. It’s good to be back!”
Fans in the comments on Facebook were quick to share how much they enjoyed the shows. Vanessa Northam said: “Absolutely amazing evening – been on my bucket list for years.
“Bawled my eyes out to ‘Now and Then’ – really special with the photo montage too. Just wonderful! Thank you Paul, the band and the whole team.”
Louise Burke added: “We were there and I’m still crying. What an amazing night! Seeing a Beatle in concert is a memory I’ll treasure forever, especially when you did Get Back, which my daddy and I used to ‘rock n roll’ dance to, played on our wooden stereogram in the 1970s. Merry Christmas to you, your family and all the band.”
Lisa Reali said: “Loved it! What a brilliant and very moving experience with the whole audience singing along as one. I’ll never forget it. Thank you.”
Karen Ward said: “Fantastic concert last night, I danced, laughed and cried. Brilliant show, very special atmosphere. Thanks Sir Paul.”
Debs Dixon added: “I was there Saturday night. And cried through the whole gig. Thank you Macca for a lifetime of pure joy!”.
Sarah Jane said: “A once in a lifetime, pinch me moment. A five star evening last night- it can’t be topped . Thank you – coincidentally I was staying at a hotel in Liverpool that was Stuart Sutcliffe’s family home this weekend. A truly ‘Beatles’ experience, thank you legend.”
