Strictly Come Dancing viewers were in stitches as Stacey Dooley joked she was leaving Kevin Clifton after last night’s final. The couple found love on their way to winning the 2018 edition of the contest.
Their relationship has flourished after the show ended as they welcomed their first child into the world last year and have since relocated to Merseyside. Stacey and Kevin watched the 2024 final of Strictly from their home last night and shared updates on social media.
The professional dancer shared a snap of the TV asking his followers who they would be voting for in the showpiece event. Stacey was mortified with the snap as she took to the comments and said: “PSA, these cables are soon to be gone. Kev, you’ve done me dirty here.”
The two were delighted when a product of their new home city was crowned winner. Liverpool comedian Chris McCausland is Strictly’s first ever blind contestant and won over the hearts of the nation with his inspiring performances alongside Dianne Buswell.

Chris’ final performances featured a nod to his Merseyside roots with a Couple’s Choice to Instant Karma by John Lennon and a Waltz to You’ll Never Walk Alone. His incredible effort was rewarded when he was crowned winner and Kevin revealed he was in tears after the announcement.
He said: “Absolutely sobbing. Well done @chrismccauslandcomedy @diannebuswell I’m so proud of you! What you have achieved is nothing short of sensational. You deserve this sis!!!
“Also, for about 13 yrs ive heard people say and read articles saying @bbcstrictly is done. And yet, they delivered magic AGAIN. And those people were wrong AGAIN.”
Stacey was similarly overwhelmed with emotion after Chris’ incredible win. The acclaimed documentary presenter took to the comments and joked she was calling time on her and Kevin’s relationship.
She said: “Baby, I’M LEAVING YOU FOR CHRIS. He’s knockout and I LOVE HIM. Lady Di, WADDA gal!” Stacey marked a special update this week as it marked six years since the two got together.
She joked: “We’ve been together 6 years and we’ve got about 6 photos where we both look good. In this instance, my coat/cashmere colour combo has gotten me over the line.”
Fans congratulated the couple on their milestone and commented how quickly time had passed since their time on Strictly. Strictly host Tess Daly said: “You beauties. I was there in the beginning! X”
A follower named Shirley said: “Time has flown. Magic couple.” Yvonne commented: “I remember watching you two fall in love. It was so cute! And of course winning too!” Sharan posted: “Congrats to you both” Shirley commented: “You two are fab”.
