People shared their heartbreak following the “shockingly sad” incident
People have paid tribute to a woman who died after being hit by a car. Emergency services were called at around 7.45pm on Thursday, December 12, to reports of a crash on Brewster Street, near to the Brewster Street Garages in Bootle.
Police attended the scene and discovered there had been a crash between a blue Ford Focus and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a 72-year-old woman, was taken to hospital but sadly died a short time later. The driver of the car stopped at the scene, police said.
A couple who witnessed the incident told the ECHO: “The girl was on the floor and we pulled over to help her.” They added that “bags and Christmas presents” were strewn across the road.
Following the news of the woman’s death, tributes have been paid as people shared their respects with her loved ones. Wendy Gerrard said: “My thoughts are with her family and friends, now and throughout Christmas. RIP.”
Andrea Delea added: “Just shockingly sad. Deepest sympathy to all family. My heart went out to you all.”

Alison Pearson said: “So sad. Thoughts are with the family. Sleep tight angel.” Stephanie Brady added: “Right on top of Christmas as well. God love her and her family.”
Paul Bullen said: “My thoughts go out to all of her family and friends, plus the people who knew this old lady. Such a shame and a tragedy this time of year. RIP.”
Chief Inspector Andy Foster, of Merseyside Police, said: “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. We are also appealing to any motorists who may have dashcam footage to get in touch. The woman’s family has been informed and are being supported by officers.”
