Mike Tyson was in the ring with Jake Paul for eight rounds last month
Boxing icon Mike Tyson has claimed he didn’t feel fatigued during his eight-round bout with Jake Paul. The 58-year-old Tyson stepped into the ring for his first official fight in nearly two decades last month, squaring off against the YouTuber-turned-boxer.
His previous match before facing Paul was a 2005 loss to Kevin McBride, where he retired after five rounds. Despite the blend of doubt and optimism that accompanied Tyson’s return, many boxing fans clung to the hope that ‘Iron Mike’ could defy the odds.
However, as anticipated, Tyson’s age seemed to play a significant role as he began to lose momentum from the second round. Even though ‘The Problem Child’ didn’t manage to knock out the legendary boxer, he secured a unanimous decision victory in Texas.

“Magically. It just happened so quick,” he told 7News via The Mirror at a Miami pop-up event. “Eight round were over fast. I wasn’t tired. I wasn’t sweating. I didn’t understand that.”
‘Iron Mike’ seems to have finally hung up his gloves for good when it comes to fighting. However, he doesn’t see his connection to the boxing world ending there.
“As I said before, the sky is the limit,” he said when asked about what the future holds. “Anything I want, I’m just happy to be able to do it. I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to be able to do everything that I want to do in this and beyond.”
His remarks came shortly after his wife seemed to hint at Tyson’s retirement from the ring. His son, Amir, disclosed that his stepmother has declared the icon ‘done’ for good.
Speaking with Seconds Out, Tyson Jr said: “I think he’s done. My stepmom, she’s saying he’s done and they’re a team. That’s husband-and-wife stuff.”
In the same conversation, Amir tackled the rumours that the fight was fixed, adding: “Some people are on that bogus ‘oh, it’s rigged’. We know it wasn’t rigged. He just got tired. Jake would move out the way. It looked like he pulled his punches back but Jake’s moving. It’s not like the pads, he’s moving.
“When someone doesn’t want to accept that someone lost, when it doesn’t go that way of course they’re gonna pull that. And that’s what they’re putting on the internet. His gas tank after the third round was just shot. That’s all it was. He just kept on staying throughout. He did his best. No holding back, he did the best he could at his age.”
