The Liverpool comedian admitted was on the verge of tears as he shared the update with Dianne Buswell
Strictly Come Dancing viewers were in tears after Chris McCausland’s emotional announcement. The Liverpool comedian will take to the dancefloor with partner Dianne Buswell, in Saturday’s final.
The 47-year-old is the BBC show’s first ever blind contestant and has won over the hearts of the nation with his inspiring performances. Chris is the favourite to lift the glitterball and admitted he is close to tears whenever he thinks about his Strictly journey coming to an end.
The stand up issued the update in a joint announcement with Dianne shared on their Instagram channels last night. He said: “I’ll be honest. I got a little bit emotional before.
“I’m quite weak at the minute. Emotionally weak. It doesn’t take much to set me off. If I was to watch Pixar’s Inside Out now, I don’t think I’d ever regain any form of competence in life.”

Chris and Dianne will perform three dances in Saturday’s showpiece event when the BBC contest reaches its conclusion. Chris revealed their final dance will be the Waltz to You’ll Never Walk Alone that stirred the emotions earlier in the season.
The comic is a huge Liverpool FC fan and was tearful while rehearsing the dance for the final. He said: “We rehearsed the waltz and I realised this is going to be the last dance that we do and I imagined it all being over on Saturday and it being the last time that we dance on the show and it upset me.”
Dianne was also moved by Chris’ admission as she said: “Then you told me that and then I had a tear in my eye. I was like stop, don’t do this now.
In a message to fans, the dancer said: “Genuinely, we want to say thank you as well for making it possible that we’re even dancing in the final. I do think Chris really deserves it and I think one thing we’ve shown is that things don’t have to be perfect to be successful.
She added: “We want to say thank you and we want to say we’re going to give it our all in the final. We’re going to do what we do best and enjoy our time out there on the Strictly floor. Whether that means we get a seven from Craig, or a 10, who cares? We’ll dance like it is our last time because it is going to be.”
Chris said he hoped this message is communicated to the viewers as he shared his wish for his Strictly legacy. He said: “Perfectionism is crippling. It stops you trying things. It stops you from doing things because you’re worried you can’t do it enough.
“A lot of kids watch this and I think it’s a nice message for them to subconsciously subliminally learn that you can be criticised for something that is a huge success and I think I’m happy with that. I’m so glad that people have liked what we’ve done and thank you for giving us this opportunity to do three little dances together.”
In addition to the Waltz, Chris and Dianne will perform their Couple’s Choice from Blackpool Week and a show dance. Fans were emotional as they were reminded that Chris and Dianne will perform together for the final time on Saturday.
Elza said: “The last waltz and now we’re all crying!!! Enjoy guys!” Pip added: “I could genuinely watch you two dance all day and I’m a bit sad that it’s almost over! I so hope you win and lift that glitter ball! You so deserve it “
