A taxi driver, who was picking a passenger up this morning, said: “They won’t let me through. It’s not nice for the kids going to school having to see this.” Another woman told the ECHO residents had to sign in and out if they wanted to leave the cordon and were not allowed to move their cars.
One resident, who lives inside the cordon, told the ECHO: “We heard it happened around midnight. The cordon has been extended since then, it was only half way up the street during the night. They [police] won’t let us take our cars out. I couldn’t get to work this morning.”
