In recent weeks Alison has addressed questions about different areas of her personal life from the impact of losing her mother through to her relationship with masseur David Putman
TV presenter Alison Hammond has opened up about a heart-wrenching moment she experienced after her mother’s death. The 49-year-old shared with Delicious magazine that she found herself in tears at a Caribbean restaurant, as the food brought back memories of her late mother.
She said: “Since my mum died in 2020, I’ve been to a Caribbean restaurant, had some red peas soup and literally started crying, because it reminded me of her. Food is such an important part of my life and also plays a part in the book, because it sets the scene: Madison’s got a Caribbean background, her dad’s into food.” Alison was referring to the protagonist of her new book ‘Bombshell’, which follows the character’s life journey during December.
Speaking about the novel, Alison revealed that the idea for the main character had been with her for some time. She explained: “I always knew I had a novel in. me Madison, the main character, has lived inside my head for a long time.

It’s time to set her free! I love reading autobiographies and fiction. I’m nosy – I like to read about people’s lives: Mel B, Lewis Hamilton….Bombshell has just the right amount of drama.
“I had a co-writer – I call her my co-sister. Without her, I’d probably have finished it in 10 years!”
Alongside discussing her late mother, Alison also touched on other aspects of her personal life, including her relationship with her boyfriend, 27 year old masseur David Putman, who is 22 years her junior, reports Birmingham Live.
Alison opened up to Good Housekeeping, reflecting on how her friends, family, and the wider public have reacted to her relationship with David, firmly dispelling any ‘toyboy’ myths. She remarked: “I can see how, on paper, you’d notice the age difference. But honestly, when we see the word ‘toyboy’ written about us, it bears no relation to what we have at all.”
She further shared a glimpse into their compatibility saying, “Yes, I’m 22 years older than he is, but if you saw us together, you’d understand. People have said to me: ‘We get it now.’ He’s so mature and sensible, and I’m so not. And the things he says to me…they’re just so lovely. It’s like a jigsaw; we fit and it all comes together.”
The couple’s bond has even received the blessing of Alison’s 19 year old son Aidan, according to a DevonLive insider source who reported: “They went through some tough times when they first started going out but David has made her believe in love again and has restored her faith in men.”
The same source suggested that marriage was on the horizon, sharing: “Considering she’s extremely happy in her new relationship and has Aidan’s blessing, Alison is on cloud nine. Marriage has been discussed, and although it may be a bit premature, Alison would love to tie the knot someday. She wants to look her absolute best when that day arrives, even if it’s not imminent.”
