A 17-year-old boy died in the crash and an 18-year-old man remains in hospital in a critical condition
A man who witnessed a fatal crash involving two teenagers on a motorbike said he ran to help after hearing a “loud bang” in the street. Merseyside Police were called to the junction of Hoole Road and Grass Wood Road in Woodchurch on Saturday, November 30 at around 6.25pm after a report that two men had fallen off a vehicle, which witnesses believed to be a scrambler-style motorbike – police are now trying to find the vehicle.
Police have confirmed that a 17-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. An 18-year-old man was taken to hospital and is currently in a critical condition. It is not believed that any other vehicle was involved in the incident.
When the ECHO arrived on the scene at around 9pm yesterday evening, there was a large police presence on Hoole Road, with at least seven police vehicles on the street. A cordon was in place covering the scene of the crash outside a row of shops. Within the cordon, there was a white forensics tent.

Neighbours were deeply upset by what happened. We spoke to two men who heard the crash and witnessed the terrible aftermath. One man fought back tears as he told the ECHO: “I was walking round the corner and I heard a bang. I thought it was a car crash at first. Then I saw them on the ground and I ran over to help.”
He added: “I’ve never seen anything like it. I can’t unseen what I’ve seen.” His friend added: “It’s sad, really sad. They were so young, just kids really. They didn’t deserve that.” A road closure was put in place following the incident. Police are appealing for any witnesses, CCTV and dash camera footage which may assist the investigation.
Inspector Ian Cowell from Merseyside Police’s roads policing team said: “This is a tragic incident that has resulted in a teenager losing his life and our thoughts are with his family. Another young man has also sustained significant injuries and he is currently in a critical condition in hospital.
“A road closure remains in place at the scene and increased patrols are in the area to carry out initial inquiries and establish exactly what happened. We believe there were other males who were with them at the time of the collision and we are trying to locate them to see if they have any information.
“When officers arrived, the vehicle involved in the collision, which we believe was a motorbike, had been removed and part of our inquiries will be trying to locate this vehicle.
