The latest Liverpool news as more pundits have given their thoughts on the forwards comments on his current contract situation at Anfield.
Rio Ferdinand has disagreed with fellow pundit and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher over his thoughts on Mohamed Salah’s latest contract admission. The Reds’ forward spoke about his contract situation at the club in the aftermath of the 3-2 win over Southampton on Sunday.
The Egyptian is one of three key players who are out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season, alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk. If they don’t sign new deals then they will be available to sign for new clubs for no transfer fee at the end of the season.
Speaking after the game, where he scored a brace, Salah said: “Well, we are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club, [so] I’m probably more out than in.

“You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future.”
Those comments have got pundits talking, with Carragher the first major name to comment on the Liverpool forward’s bombshell admission. The former Reds defender didn’t hold back on his thoughts on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, saying: “I am very disappointed with Mo Salah.
“That interview last night after the game and it comes out today…Liverpool have got Real Madrid midweek and Man City at the weekend, that is the story for Liverpool right now.
“And Mo Salah, we are all quite aware, certainly, the local reporters are in Liverpool, that in the seven years he has been at the football club, he has stopped in the mixed zone twice. Which is his right, which is absolutely fine, but he decided to stop for the third time away at Southampton on the back of winning Liverpool the game and putting that out.
“Now, the most important thing for Liverpool this season, is not the future of Salah, not the future of Virgil van Dijk and it is not the future of Trent Alexander-Arnold. The most important thing is Liverpool winning the Premier League, that is more important than any of those players.”
And now Ferdinand has also shared his thoughts, insisting Salah has not been disrespectful towards the club. “He’s banging the pressure right on the doorstep of Anfield,” the former defender said on TNT Sports when talking about Salah’s contract.
He then added: “I like the transparency of it, I like the confidence, I like the ‘you know who I am, you know what I give you, let’s talk.’ I like that, and I think that as I said, it puts pressure on the club but I don’t think he’s said anything out of turn, that’s the key thing, he hasn’t been disrespectful in that sense for me he’s just given cold facts and said ‘right where are we?’”
